Multimedia Specialist

The Hillsboro School District is currently seeking a multimedia specialist to join its Communications department. This department is composed of a small but dynamic team of professional and dedicated individuals who work together to ensure that accurate, relevant, and timely information is available to District staff, patrons, and partners. The multimedia specialist will be responsible for managing and expanding various communications channels with in the consistency across publications and digital platforms. The ability to work independently and create high-quality work from the ground-up with little direction is essential. At the same time, this person is expected to be collaborative, open to the ideas of others, and motivated to excel for the betterment of the District as a whole. General Duties:

The multimedia specialist will be responsible for managing and expanding various communication channels within the District, including print, event, social media, video, and marketing efforts while ensuring brand fidelity and design consistency across publications and digital platforms. The ability to work independently and create highquality work from the ground-up with little direction is essential. At the same time, this person is expected to be collaborative, open to the ideas of others, and motivated to excel for the betterment of the District as a whole. The ultimate goal of this position is to continually develop and oversee systems designed to enhance the relationship between the District and our community by providing consistent, reliable, timely and engaging

 

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • A Bachelor’s Degree in communications, marketing, graphic design, multimedia production or other relevant field.
  • Experience in communications/public relations, marketing, graphic design, social media, videography and/or other related disciplines preferred.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills in English, including editing and proofreading.
  • The ability to effectively work and communicate with students, parents, and school personnel from diverse cultures or backgrounds
  • The ability to implement coordinated strategies to enhance communications with all stakeholders using a variety of media.
  • The ability to take a kernel of information and expand upon it to round out a story, create a project plan, etc. 
  • Independent self-starter with ability to work in a high-volume, fast-paced environment and meet deadlines.
  • The ability to see both the big picture and be attentive to detail, learn new things quickly, be creative in both problem-solving and idea-generation, and discern the essential from the non-essential.
  • Excellent computer and analytical skills, including strong working experience with desktop publishing, design, and video editing applications such as the Adobe Creative Suite: Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, and Premiere Pro.
  • The ability to follow oral and written instructions
  • The ability to work harmoniously with others
  • Proficient in the use of computer and Internet based applications, including but not limited to email and systems applications
  • The ability to learn systems as required by the District.
  • Bilingual English/Spanish preferred (bilingual is defined as fluency in reading, writing and speaking two languages as determined by District screening tool)
